Secret Mission 'Strange Afternoon' 1991 EMI
INFO: This item is being sold through me by another seller. This album does seemingly get labelled as Female Fronted AOR when it does come up for sale or auction. Something which I feel is slightly misleading. However, whilst I am not discrediting that it does have some elements that do fall within the genre it does have enough that fall well outside the genre. As well as the initial selling point of a ‘FF AOR’ tag there is one other very noticeable reason it garners interest from the start – and that is that the mighty Mick Ronson appears on all 10 tracks and has a hand in the albums production. Now, what of the songs? Well, as I have stated, I would not label this as a straight ahead FF AOR release and the reason for that is it has a kind of early 90’s Indie/Alternative feel to it. It is quite diverse within this style but only escapes (overall) from it on a few occasions – and when it does it can be considered (in my mind) as FF AOR. At the end of the day a good album is a good album and this is a good album. If you are looking for something a bit more diverse than an AOR-by-numbers release - e.g. Robin Beck et al - than this could really Rock your boat. Recommended to fans of Mick Ronson, FF early 90’s Alt. Pop/Rock/AOR and those who don’t mind straying from the norm on occasion...
Condition: Booklet is in a good condition (if not slightly better than good) / Tray Liner is in a good condition (there is a small area – which is not very noticeable – that shows signs of damage from water/condensation??? (‘Believe me if you did not take the plastic tray out you would be very hard pressed to notice this’) / CD has surface scratches (some heavier than others) and marks which do not affect playback in any way
